High-speed Internet access has fostered sites that enable users to upload and share access to media files, including still photos, video, and audio content, and these have proliferated. Sites may allow users to comment on individual files or collections. Examples include Flickr for images and YouTube for videos.
Some sites incorporate several social media concepts in a single place. Facebook, for instance, features both a microblog (the “status update”) and a full-fledged blog (the “Notes” application); photo, video, and audio sharing; discussion forums; and other social applications like event-planning tools.
